Tattoo: Precare
Please read these instructions carefully, and call or text if you have any questions.
Good preparation helps your skin handle the session and supports a cleaner healing process.
- Eat a proper meal before your appointment and arrive well hydrated.
- No alcohol for at least 24 hours before your procedure.
- Avoid unnecessary blood-thinning medication such as aspirin or ibuprofen for 48 hours, unless prescribed by your doctor.
- Do not arrive with sunburn, broken skin, rashes, irritation or active blemishes in the tattoo area.
- Wear clean, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the placement area.
- Do not apply numbing creams unless Stephanie has approved the product beforehand.
Tattoo: Aftercare
A fresh tattoo is an open wound. Mild redness, tenderness and swelling are normal during the first few days.
- Only touch or wash your tattoo with freshly cleaned hands.
- Follow the instructions that Stephanie will provide after the tattoo.
- Wash gently with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free soap.
- Do not use washcloths, bath sponges, loofahs or rough towels.
- Pat dry with a clean paper towel and allow the skin to air dry.
- Apply only a very thin layer of the recommended aftercare ointment.
- Do not scratch, pick or peel flaking skin.
- Avoid swimming pools, baths, saunas, direct sun and heavy sweating while the tattoo heals.
Once: Healed
The surface usually settles within two to four weeks, while deeper healing takes longer. Continue protecting the artwork so it stays crisp.
- Use a high-SPF sunscreen once the tattoo is completely healed.
- Moisturise regularly with a gentle, fragrance-free lotion.
- Contact Stephanie once fully healed if any area needs to be assessed for a touch-up.
- Never tattoo over irritated, infected or unhealed skin.
